about
I'm John (aka JB) a 59 year old New Zealander with no particular claim to fame except a passion for life and a desire to experience as much as I can while I'm able to.
I've been fortunate enough to have traveled and explored the the world widely and now be in a position where I can take the time to explore New Zealand from end to end.
For those who aren't aware (and especially those friends and family outside New Zealand) we are privileged to have an established trail from Cape Reinga in the north through to Bluff at the south of the South Island. This trail runs for a little over 3000km and is known as Te Araroa (TA for short).
The Te Araroa site provides further information including details of the trail and its history. It really does make good reading for those interested.
My intention is to walk the entire trail, commencing late September and finishing late March with a break in the middle to spend time with the family over Christmas/January.
This blog site will provide a chronicle of my journey. Given the vagaries of internet coverage and, perhaps, my motivation to write every day it may be that the blog skips the odd day so for that I apologise in advance.
